Goal

Use ten frames, part-whole bars, and the rainbow of ten.

She gives the partner of any number to 10 without counting up.
Session B
CoreThree story shapes
Goal
Find a missing whole, missing part, or missing start.
What you do
Draw the same part-whole box for six different stories.
Move on when
She decides what is missing without relying on keywords.
Session C
CoreDoubles and near doubles
Goal
Use a known double to reach the pair beside it.
What you do
Build equal rows, learn the doubles to 10, then add or take away one.
Move on when
She names the double before she gives the answer.
Session D
CoreCross the ten
Goal
Add past ten by making the ten first.
What you do
Move counters into a ten frame, then read the answer as ten and some ones.
Move on when
She says the total, not the leftover.

Twenty minutes is enough on most days. Finish earlier when your child reaches a natural success, and return another day if frustration starts to rise.

Ontario alignment
Core learning and optional enrichment are clearly separated.
Grade 2 core work includes numbers to 200, addition and subtraction situations to 100, facts to 20, fair sharing, equal groups, patterns, data, measurement, and Canadian money. More advanced change, algorithms, halving, and clock reading remain optional extensions.
